Child Ambassador FAQ's

What are World Vision Child Ambassadors?

Child Ambassadors are volunteers who share about World Vision child sponsorship with their friends, family, neighbors, church, or other connections in their personal network.

I want to do more to help kids! How do I become a Child Ambassador?

Great! Fill out the application and you'll be on your way.

What are the requirements to be a Child Ambassador?

You must be 18 years of age or older, living in the United States, and a current World Vision child sponsor (Not a sponsor? Consider sponsoring a child today!). You'll also need to agree to the World Vision Statement of Faith and complete a background check, which we require for all of our volunteers for the protection of children.

How will World Vision equip me as a Child Ambassador?

We'll connect you to a Child Ambassador mentor in your geographic region who will show you the ropes. We'll add you to the Child Ambassador private Facebook group where you'll share ideas and be inspired. We'll start you off with a series of training emails, loaded with tools and materials to assist you. And finally, we'll send you a kit in the mail with our best tools - including a handbook with all the information you'll need.

How do Child Ambassadors make sponsorship connections?

All kinds of ways! Child Ambassadors schedule coffee with friends and family, host dinner parties, display their sponsorship materials on their desk at work, plan events at their church, and so much more. When you get started as a CA, we'll give you tons of ideas to get started, and your CA mentor will help you come up with a plan.

How much time does this take?

The average Child Ambassador spends about 1-2 hours a week, and that includes a balance between learning and prepping and actually going out into their communities to talk about sponsorship. Being a Child Ambassador can be integrated into your daily life, but it does require some time to be intentional about learning and asking!

What does Megan's shirt mean?

Megan's shirt says "Ask me why I love goodbyes," and says "goodbye" in different languages. It's symbolic of the fact that World Vision's goal is to leave a community we partner with, once the community is sustainable and able to stand on their own. We love to say goodbye because that means that our work has made a difference and the community can continue to thrive. We'll send you this shirt after you get your first sponsorship!
