Layla’s family gets emergency essentials after Turkey-Syria earthquake

For countless families in Turkey and Syria, life changed forever on February 6, 2023. Tens of thousands lost their homes — and more — in the strongest earthquake to hit the region in over a century. With your support, we were able to respond immediately, providing access to life-saving essentials for people who lost everything.

Layla*, 55, is one of those people. She and her eight children lost their home in the earthquake and live in a temporary shelter, where they were buying expensive bottled water to drink, cook, and wash with. But donors like you helped change that: Water tanks were installed for easy access to the clean water Layla and her kids needed — a grace amid the heaviness.
