World Vision CEO and bestselling author Richard Stearns has teamed up with his wife, Reneé, to tell the stories of God’s love around the world to adults and children alike in He Walks Among Us and God’s Love For You Bible Storybook. Releasing today through Thomas Nelson Publishers, Stearns’ latest projects follow The Hole in Our Gospel and Unfinished.
Rich and Reneé Stearns have traveled some two million miles in their service with World Vision — to war-torn Congo, to post-earthquake Haiti, to Southeast Asia in the wake of the tsunami, and to poverty-stricken villages all over the world. They’ve brought back stories — true stories — of real people they have encountered and whose lives have been changed by God’s grace and through the work of His church. In the devotional, He Walks Among Us, they share these stories and as well as lessons they have learned about joy and fulfillment from people who seemingly have so little.
“The scores of people featured in this book invited us into their homes and into their lives, sharing their most intimate stories with us, believing that their stories counted for something and that others might benefit from hearing them,” Richard writes. “They had much to teach us about living, loving, overcoming and celebrating.”
In God’s Love For You Bible Storybook, the Stearns’ continue to share stories of people who have been touched by World Vision’s work, this time through the eyes of children. Stories of people who have been changed by the Gospel accompany favorite Bible stories, teaching children not only about God’s love for them, but about the ways that His love reaches all the way around the world!
God’s Love For You Bible Storybook features bright, whimsical displays by Martina Peluso. Carolyn Larsen, author of The Little Girl’s Bible Storybook, contributed to the Bible stories. Also featured are fun facts about each featured child’s home country, bringing a unique educational element to the storybook.
Richard and Reneé’s latest projects tell remarkable and inspiring stories paired with stunning photography and illustrations and classic Bible stories. The books serve as a great reminder of the love that God has for the world and, most importantly, they remind us that He walks among us. All of us.
Richard and Reneé are available for interview upon request.
Richard Stearns has served as president of World Vision U.S. since 1998, having formerly been the CEO of Parker Bros. Games and Lenox, Inc. He and his wife, Reneé have five children.
Reneé Stearns is a former attorney, mother of five, and grandmother of one. She is active in church ministries, leading Bible studies, and speaking at conferences and retreats. Reneé is passionate about helping others broaden their worldview to include the great needs she sees in her travels with World Vision.
