World Vision Praises Passing of Omnibus Funding Bill

WASHINGTON (December 18, 2015) —World Vision applauds the House of Representatives and the Senate for passing an FY16 omnibus appropriations bill that largely supports and protects funding that helps the most vulnerable children and families around the world.

“We thank Congress for expressing the goodwill of the American people who are eager to share their blessings in order to provide lifesaving assistance for millions of families. These foreign assistance programs lift families out of poverty, provide needed food assistance, and ensure the availability of vital health services to save the lives of mothers and children,” said World Vision U.S. President Rich Stearns. “We applaud Congress for addressing some of the most devastating humanitarian crises of our time, particularly the needs of refugees and displaced people in the Middle East and combating child labor.”

Over the past several months, World Vision advocates and donors have conducted meetings, made phone calls and sent emails to Members of Congress to voice support for poverty-focused development and humanitarian accounts.  As a result of these efforts, many of these programs have received strong funding in the omnibus bill.
