Clean water helps Sarah reconsider marrying too young

When Sarah lost her father in 2010, her life took a drastic turn for the worse. The family went hungry, not cooking because they tried to limit their water usage. Challenges like these combined to make Sarah consider marrying young as a way out of the troubles. In 2020 her waiting paid off when World Vision drilled a borehole in her community. Now she concentrates on school and doesn’t even consider marrying at this time.

Celebrating Easter in a time of war

Orthodox Easter celebrations across Eastern Europe involve the passing of the holy fire from priest to congregation. Then people arrive to receive blessings on baskets of food, which they eat from to break their Lenten fast. In 2022, those ceremonies took on even more significance as churches and Moldovans welcomed refugees from Ukraine.

Sammie’s story: Making the world a better place

Sammie, a girl from New Jersey, learned at school that many people around the world lack enough food and access to clean water. She wanted to help, and her father found a way through World Vision’s Gift Catalog. With money she raised through a lemonade and cookie stand, she was able to purchase the gift of 10 goats to help equip families to overcome poverty.

In the kitchen: Honduran pupusas

Pupusas — thick, grilled flatbreads usually stuffed with cheese, beans, or pork — are a staple in Central America. The dish originated in El Salvador and western Honduras. They’re similar to Mexican gorditas and Venezuelan arepas. A few simple ingredients combine to create a flavorful meal.
