Caitlan Capps, senior consultant at 3esi-Enersight, believes world-changing results come from volunteering. Inspired by her best friend—LPGA golfer Kendall Dye, who partnered with World Vision to help build a well in Zambia—Caitlan recently coordinated a World Vision kit build for her company.
By assembling kits for Syrian refugee children, Caitlan felt she and her co-workers could “bring comfort to Syrian children going through the worst things we can imagine.” So, with the help of Brittany Bluestein, the company’s global marketing coordinator, she planned a fun event in their Houston, Texas, office that would also have a tremendous impact.
The pair started with a generous corporate giving budget provided by 3esi-Enersight, a Canada-based oil and gas software company. Fellow employees joined in, creating personal World Vision online fundraising pages and raising $5,025—enough to provide more than 1,100 pounds of much-needed supplies for Syrian refugees.
The “Helping Hands Happy Hour” event brought together a group of 25 enthusiastic employees, clients, and family members to assemble over 200 Promise Packs—backpacks that provide one child with basic school supplies, hygiene items, and a blanket—while enjoying a catered dinner and music.
“It was awesome to rally around a cause with my co-workers to make a difference together.”

Caitlan says the experience helped bring the close-knit staff even closer as they experienced the rewards of giving back together. “There’s more of a sense of ownership now in our corporate volunteerism program,” she says.
