World Vision photographers capture stories of children and their families to inspire us toward action and compassion. These moments in time illuminate God’s grace and faithfulness as we work together to end extreme poverty in His name.
Why World Vision is in Cambodia
The after-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to negatively impact Cambodia. Families’ livelihoods, education, water and sanitation systems, and the economy in general have been hit hard as the country worked to recover in 2022.
Schools shut down for two years after the pandemic, causing students to return with many differing needs and setbacks. Additionally, widespread flooding across the country delayed school another month and displaced families, ultimately affecting over 68,000 people. Beyond the physical needs, these challenges have taken a toll on the emotional and mental well-being of vulnerable children and families within these communities. Working with partners and governments, World Vision‘s Cambodia staff empowered communities throughout the country with tools to improve health and nutrition; water, sanitation, and hygiene; income generation, and child protection. Schools were equipped with resources and professional development to help teachers navigate this new landscape of education. We celebrate that 1.3 million children overall benefited from our continuing work in nutrition, education, and child protection! We never give up on people
World Vision child sponsorship looks at all the things that prevent children from surviving and thriving in their community, and then works with that community to bring all the pieces of the puzzle together to build a better life for all children. For sponsors, it’s a personal way to show God’s love to a child in need in a life-changing way.

Child sponsorship and letters inspire a girl in Cambodia
In rural Cambodia, 15-year-old Nita has flourished in World Vision’s child sponsorship program. She once was shy but has grown into a student leader who helps other children learn to read and write, and letters from her sponsor have encouraged her to dream.
