Xinxin was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was just a baby. Her mother, Xiaofei, poured time and resources into her rehabilitation, but she lacked support from her family. Relatives didn’t think it was worth it to invest in a child with special needs. But Xiaofei wouldn’t give up. When she found support for Xinxin through World Vision and its partners, she found new hope. Now, she wants to share her hope with other parents of children with disabilities: “I hope parents do not give up.”

Why World Vision is in China
For over 24 years, World Vision has had a presence in the country of China, operating in four area programs throughout the region and bringing positive change in the lives of more than 12,000 children and their families, including access to education, protection, sustainable income generation, food and better care within their homes and communities. These achievements were made in mutually respectful collaboration with government institutions, partner organizations, donors, and children and their communities. World Vision US is currently working in any communities in China and recently ended its Sponsorship operations in the North China Plain Region. World Vision is grateful for our time in China spent partnering with children, families, and communities. The future is bright as local community members and partners continue carrying forward the good work.

For the well-being of children with disabilities, that they’ll be protected from COVID-19 and that local social services would be equipped to care for them well.
