Why World Vision is in Colombia

Colombia has endured political, sociological, and economic tensions, creating a challenging last year. Armed conflict affects the safety of its vulnerable children and families, a migration of Venezuelans into the country has added unique challenges, and food insecurity continues to threaten the lives of many communities.

It’s estimated that approximately 1.4 million children in vulnerable communities are impacted by child labor, exploitation, displacement, and recruitment to dangerous groups. Additionally, 7.3 million Colombians are dealing with food insecurity due to inflation and agricultural challenges.

World Vision staff have developed various action plans for access to food, education, health, protection, and hygiene resources for these vulnerable communities. In collaboration with many other organizations, we have reached over 630,000 people in need of food and emergency care. Our sponsors are impacting 37,000 children to promote full and healthy lives! Many migrant communities have received access to education, and we are also taking strategic steps to protect the safety of vulnerable communities. The Safe Schools Declaration, supported by World Vision, points to increased efforts in safety measures, impacting over 2.6 million children and adolescents.

We never give up on people

World Vision child sponsorship looks at all the things that prevent children from surviving and thriving in their community, and then works with that community to bring all the pieces of the puzzle together to build a better life for all children. For sponsors, it’s a personal way to show God’s love to a child in need in a life-changing way.
