This capacity statement summarizes World Vision’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), highlighting four priority intervention areas: water supply and quality; sanitation and hygiene; governance and finance; and water security and resilience. Since 1984, World Vision has contributed to the improvement of thousands of children’s lives through relief, advocacy, and development projects in the DRC. Operations began by partnering with USAID and local churches to distribute food to families in need. In 1998, our operations transitioned from primarily relief-focused to sustainable transformational development activities. In 2021 alone, World Vision reached about 61,065 Congolese people through long-term development programs as well as those funded by grants.
