The WASH UP! Girl Talk initiative, a collaboration between Sesame Workshop and World Vision, is an innovative project to address existing gaps in adolescent health and menstrual hygiene education available for pre-adolescent and adolescent girls and boys in rural Zimbabwe. Girl Talk, as an educational resource that is part of a school-based WASH initiative for rural schools, aims to increase educators’ and students’ knowledge about and practice of healthy hygiene behaviors and menstrual hygiene management. The research team conducted a quasi-experimental study using assessments and questionnaires to measure the impact of Girl Talk on students and educators in six participating schools from Nyanga Province and six control schools from Rushinga.
