Coast Province Kenya WASH Capacity Statement

World Vision began working in Coast province in the 1980s. Water, sanitation, and hygiene
(WASH) activities were an important part of early projects. Our first area programs (APs)
in the province were started in coastal Tana River county (Golbanti AP), Kilifi county
(Kaloleni AP), and Taita-Taveta county (Voi AP). World Vision’s Kenya WASH Program
expanded activities in the province between 2007–2021. The program currently works in
four counties: Kilifi, Kwale, Taita-Taveta, and Tana River. Our efforts focus on improving WASH
access in communities, schools, and healthcare facilities to address acute water shortages, as
well as lack of access to sanitation facilities and poor hygiene practices.
