This capacity statement summarizes World Vision’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming in Ghana, highlighting four priority intervention areas: water supply and quality; sanitation and hygiene; governance and finance; and water security and resilience. World Vision’s work in Ghana started in 1979. In many ways, the genesis of our Global WASH Program can be traced back to Ghana, where in 1985, a severe drought left many rural communities in precarious conditions. With support from USAID, World Vision began large-scale WASH programming to provide clean water to vulnerable families and help to eradicate Guinea worm. Since that time, what began as a single water project has multiplied and matured. As one of World Vision’s flagship WASH countries, the footprint of World Vision’s Ghana WASH Program includes 23 districts across 11 regions.
