World Vision’s ultimate goal is excellent health outcomes that could be sustained over time by a local partner, a goal that is dependent on a strong health system. With stronger health systems, local partners can better maintain, sustain, and even expand the impact of implemented programs. Strengthening health systems is a global development priority to countless nations and international donors. As health interventions are rapidly scaled up to address global health issues, health system constraints are a major impediment to increasing quality service delivery.
World Vision works in strengthening health systems (HSS) at both the local and national levels to improve service delivery. World Vision’s extensive network of faith-based, non-governmental, and governmental partners affords us an opportunity to prepare the ground locally to strengthen the six pillars of national health systems: 1) service delivery, 2) the health workforce, 3) medical products and technologies, 4) health systems financing, 5) leadership and governance, and 6) health information systems.
