World Vision’s women’s economic empowerment efforts work to improve the abilities, access and agency of women, while simultaneously addressing inequitable social and cultural norms,
laws, and institutions to promote a more enabling environment where both women and men of all ages can thrive. Women’s empowerment is crucial for achieving the SDGs, ending poverty,
ending world hunger, and building a better world for children.
Through our Women’s Economic Empowerment Approach (depicted in the graphic below),
World Vision works to address four key outcomes: economic advancement, access, agency,
and equitable systems. In partnership with the women we serve and their communities, we
promote increased income and employment, access to opportunities, services, and resources,
decision-making ability in households and markets, manageable paid and unpaid workloads,
and well-being. Finally, World Vision promotes equitable systems where women can benefit
from equitable policies, laws, institutional practices, and social norms
