This capacity statement summarizes World Vision’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming in Zambia, highlighting four priority intervention areas: water supply and quality; sanitation and hygiene; governance and finance; and water security and resilience. Our work in Zambia started in 1981 with three small community developments projects in Mkushi district, north of Lusaka. Today, World Vision operates in nine of 10 provinces in Zambia. World Vision’s multisectoral strategy focuses on catalytic interventions in the sectors of WASH, health and nutrition, food security and economic resilience, primary education, and child protection. This strategy is realized through an annual national budget of approximately $40 million from local revenue, public and private grants, and child sponsorship.
